What is Testosterone
Replacement Therapy (TRT)?

Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) is a medical treatment designed to boost your body’s natural levels of testosterone.

As men age, it’s common to experience a decline in testosterone production, which can lead to various unwanted symptoms such as fatigue, reduced libido, weight gain, and mood changes.

TRT aims to restore these levels, helping you regain your vitality and overall well-being.

Why Should You Consider TRT?

Many men experience the effects of low testosterone (Low T) without realizing the root cause. Here are common symptoms that may indicate you’re a candidate for TRT:

  • Decreased energy or constant fatigue

  • Reduced libido or sexual performance

  • Loss of muscle mass or increase in body fat

  • Mood swings, irritability, or depression

  • Poor concentration or memory

  •

You might benefit from Elite Health Solutions’ Testosterone Replacement Therapy program if these symptoms sound familiar.

Potential Side Effects of TRT: Acne and Oily Skin: Increased oil production and acne, especially in men prone to these issues. Sleep Apnea: TRT may worsen sleep apnea in those who already suffer from this condition. Increased Red Blood Cell Count (Polycythemia): This can increase the risk of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack. Breast Enlargement (Gynecomastia): Elevated testosterone can lead to higher levels of estrogen, causing breast tissue growth. Testicular Shrinkage: Testosterone replacement can suppress natural testosterone production, leading to reduced testicular size. Infertility: TRT may lower sperm production, potentially leading to reduced fertility. Mood Changes: Some men experience irritability, aggression, or mood swings while on TRT. Fluid Retention: TRT may cause mild swelling or fluid retention in some individuals. Prostate Growth: While not confirmed to cause prostate cancer, TRT can promote the growth of the prostate, potentially worsening conditions like benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Conditions That Contraindicate TRT: Prostate Cancer or High Risk for Prostate Cancer: TRT can stimulate the growth of prostate cancer cells and may worsen undiagnosed prostate cancer. Breast Cancer: Men with a history of breast cancer should generally avoid TRT. Severe Sleep Apnea: Testosterone can exacerbate sleep apnea, a serious condition that affects breathing during sleep. Uncontrolled Heart Conditions: Men with severe heart disease, heart failure, or recent heart attacks may face increased risks with TRT. Polycythemia: If a man already has an elevated red blood cell count, TRT may worsen this condition and increase the risk of blood clots. Liver Disease: Certain testosterone formulations can impact liver function, so men with severe liver disease should be cautious. Severe Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): TRT can increase the size of the prostate, potentially worsening symptoms of BPH. Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure: TRT can elevate blood pressure, so it may not be suitable for those with uncontrolled hypertension. History of Blood Clots: If a man has a history of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism, TRT could increase the risk of developing further clots. Monitoring and Care: Regular blood tests are recommended to monitor testosterone levels, red blood cell counts, and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels. Consultation with a healthcare provider is essential to evaluate risks based on personal health conditions before starting TRT. TRT can provide significant benefits, but it’s important to weigh these against the potential side effects and contraindications. Always work closely with a medical provider to ensure that TRT is safe and appropriate for your specific health situation.
